Part A: Base Structure

Base Structure

Description: Supporting structure of all weight, permanent magnet, and bearing. Electro-magnet housed inside of boxed area with a safety door attached to enclosure for safety purposes. Materials: Stainless Steel

Part B: Center Shaft

Base Structure

Description: Shaft used to keep bearing, permanent magnet, and brass weight aligned properly. Material: Stainless Steel

Part C: Top Plate

Base Structure

Description: Plate that will be fixed to the atop the base structure in order to keep the center shaft and all of its elements in place. Material: Stainless Steel

Part D: Stainless Steel Bearing

Base Structure

Description: Will sit on top of the support structure and allow both the permanent magnet and brass weight to rotate axially around the center shaft. Material: Stainless Steel

Part E: Permanent Magnet

Base Structure

Description: Very brittle permanently magnetic material, that will sit between the stainless steel bearing and the brass weight and will cause actuation of brass weight. Material: Somarium Cobalt

Part F: Brass Weight

Base Structure

Description: Brass weight of a 100 pounds sits atop the permanent magnet and will be levitated to 1 millimeter in height due to a repulsion force between the electro-magnet and the permanent magnet. Material: Brass

Part G: Electro-Magnet

Base Structure

Description: Electro-magnet that sits inside of the stainless steel enclosure of the base structure. Materials: Core made of gray cast iron and the coil made of rectangular copper wire.

Base Structure

Description: Door to base structure, safety measure to protect users against any danger from within the compartment. Materials: Stainless Steel
